EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso reached a grim milestone on Saturday morning, with health officials reporting the county had reached 100 deaths from the coronavirus.

There were two additional deaths reported since Friday, when the fatality count stood at 98.

The triple-digit fatality marker came exactly three months to the date after El Paso recorded its very first case of Covid-19.

The latest victims were a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s, both with underlying health conditions.

Officials also indicated a slight increase in hospitalizations, with 88 El Pasoans currently occupying a bed due to the virus. Of those, 51 patients were in intensive care - which was an increase of six - and roughly half (26) required ventilators.
