1 new El Paso virus death for 20 this week; surge of 162 new cases

EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso health officials announced a surge of 162 new coronavirus cases and one new death Saturday morning.

There have now been 4,340 confirmed cases.

Officials report a woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions died of the virus. The death toll is now 120.

This week has been one of the deadliest in El Paso County since the pandemic began, with 20 new deaths being announced since last Sunday.

There are a total of 3,154 recoveries, 1, 066 active cases, 35 results are pending and 895 people are being monitored.

A total of 108 pateints are currently hospitalized, 52 patients are in the ICU and 20 are on ventilators.
