Covid-19 vaccination effort undertaken in disadvantaged El Segundo Barrio area of El Paso

El Paso, Texas -- With Covid-19 vaccines being so readily available, it seems like anyone can get one if they wanted to - however, not every community has the resources or information to do so.

Organizations like Border Network for Human Rights want to change that. The organization went to Chihuahita Park in the El Segundo Barrio area of El Paso on Saturday to bring vaccines to one of the most overlooked and isolated communities in the Borderland.

"We have a great digital divide here that we have to acknowledge. People here are in the poorest income in the nation," said Rosemary Rojas, a spokesperson with the organization.

ABC-7 also spoke to members in the community. One resident expressed that she was happy an event like this happened, but is frustrated that it's a rare occasion.

"The things we see here in the southside... people wouldn't take on the westside," she said.
