140,000 deaths attributed to alcohol use
Researchers at JAMA Network found that 140,000 deaths in the U.S. per year from 2015 to 2019 from alcohol use.
40 percent of deaths were from car accidents, alcohol poisoning, and homicides.
Most are caused by chronic conditions linked to alcohol, like liver disease, cancer and heart disease.
Experts also say even moderate use can result in health issues.
