EL PASO, Texas-- The holiday shopping frenzy is in full force this week.
Local event marketers are hoping you'll skip the traditional Christmas gift this year and instead, buy some concert tickets for those stocking stuffers.

"Right before the holiday's I can not think of a better gift than a ticket because you're giving your friend a memory that will last a lifetime," said Jorge Vasquez, executive director for UTEP Special Events.

The list of shows coming to the Don Haskins Center and the Sun Bowl in March 2020 is overwhelming, but something Vazquez is excited for.

"A few years ago we would not be able to have three events in El Paso, because it wouldn't sell, let alone six or even events in one month," said Vazquez.

Holly Fields is the Event Marketing Manager for El Paso Live and the long lists of concerts for El Paso is something she believes is great for the city.

"I've been working in this business for a while, we're having a very big increase in shows. El Paso is on the map," said Fields.

The Plaza Theater begins the month of March 202 with Itzhak Pearlman.

"He's so iconic. a super star violinist for people in the music world," said Fields, "We also have the Illusionist from Broadway. It's part of our Broadway in El Paso series."

Both shows kick off the event madness in El Paso at the Plaza Theater, then the Don Haskins center takes over.

"We start our crazy series of events on March 6th with Cher," said Vazquez.

Once Cher fans are done turning back time here at the Don Haskins center, UTEP special events is taking it outside to the Sun Bowl for the Monster Jam.

"Then the very next day we move back to the arena to the Don Haskins center. We have KISS. Another iconic band, and then on the 21st we have another huge band on the Latin side, Banda MS," said Vazquez.

Excitement is building to be able to provide locals with a variety of shows this coming year, but both Vazquez and Fields hope locals keep on buying tickets to keep the El Paso concert scene on the map.

"The key is that people have to buy the ticket. I can book Cher and I can book KISS, but if they don't sell, guess what, they're not coming again," said Vazquez.
