SISD schools commemorate Patriot Day

Students, teachers and staff in schools across the Socorro Independent School District are paying tribute to the victims and survivors of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Chester E. Jordan Elementary students, faculty, staff, and community members observed Patriot Day with a special event Friday morning in the school’s playground area. Special guests with the El Paso Border Patrol, Partners in Education, military forces, and Superintendent Dr. Jos Espinoza participated in this event.

The Eastlake High School Student Council also hosted a 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony Friday morning at the flag pole in front of its school. The school’s band performed for students and the NJROTC presented colors.

Socorro High School, Vista Del Sol Elementary, and Montwood High School were among the schools that participated.
