KVIA

EL PASO, Texas-- Christmas came early for 6-year-old Avery. She spent her Saturday morning at the KVIA studios fulfilling her dream of becoming a meteorologist!

Avery has been fascinated with weather since she was 5-years-old and according to her parents she's always the one to warn family members about potential weather threats headed their way.

Avery's elementary school teacher, Brenda Alcantar, sent a message to StormTracker Iris Lopez last week with a photo attached showing Avery dressed up in her best meteorologist outfit.

In the message Alcantar wrote, "Just wanted to let you know that I have a student that would love to be a meteorologist when she grows up!"

Avery was invited to watch the Good Morning El Paso Weekend team in action Saturday morning.

Avery learned how to create a forecast through the ABC-7 weather computers. She also got a behind the scenes look at the KVIA control room.
