HORIZON CITY, Texas -- A Horizon man was arrested Wednesday by El Paso County Sheriff's deputies and charged with first-degree murder in the January death of his girlfriend.

Travis James Edmisten, 36, was being held on $500,000 bond in the El Paso County jail downtown.

His arrest stemmed from the death of 37-year-old Erin Teresa Hawkins, whose body was found on Jan. 25 in the shower of the home she shared with Edmisten in the 15000 block of Ashford Street.

Detectives said in a statement Wednesday that they had concluded "Hawkins died of severe physical trauma caused by her live-in boyfriend." The statement did not elaborate, however, on any evidence in the case or motive for the killing.
