Central El Paso pet grooming shop owner charged in death of 11-month-old husky

The owner of a central El Paso pet grooming business has been arrested and charged him with animal cruelty, police said Tuesday.

Investigators said the owner of an 11-month-old husky took her dog to Karlu Pet Grooming. She told police when she picked the dog up, he was limping with “little signs of life.”

The husky was taken to a veterinarian immediately, but died upon arrival. The investigation revealed the dog had suffered multiple injuries.

Police arrested Luis Alberto Vargas, the owner of Karlu Pet Grooming, and charged him with cruelty to non-live stock animals causing death.

He was booked and released from jail on a $3,000 bond.
