Las Cruces man jailed without bond after allegedly holding knife to 13-year-old son’s face

A Las Cruces man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened his 13-year-old son with a knife.

Las Cruces police said 37-year-old Edward Baeza was upset that his wife was not home and began to ask their three children where she was in a rude manner.

Shortly after, police said Baeza grabbed a knife then held it up to his 13-year-old son’s face and asked again where she was.

Baeza then reportedly made the children get out of the house, which is when the kids called 9-1-1 to report what happened.

Baeza is charged with third-degree felony child abuse and is being held in the Dona Ana County Detention Center without bond.
