Las Cruces woman stabbed to death, husband hurt in attempted murder-suicide

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- A domestic dispute that led to the murder of a woman and an attempted suicide by her husband, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

It happened Saturday around 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 3100 block of Posada Court near Telshor Boulevard.

Police said they found 41-year-old Amberly Lopez dead from stab wounds, while her husband, 44-year-old Juan Lopez-Banos, was alive but had a knife in his chest.

Lopez-Banos was charged with murder in what police called a murder and attempted suicide.
