EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso police officer has been relived of duty and arrested after he allegedly crashed his Mercedes into a parked BMW while drunk and then left the scene, authorities said Friday.

Jesse Anthony Sena, 48, is charged with DWI following the off-duty crash in the early morning hours of Thursday in the 700 block of Westlake.

After his car collided with the empty parked car, "Sena reportedly left the scene of the accident and proceeded a short distance where he left his vehicle parked," said Detective Diane Mack, who added that he was found a short time later and placed under arrest.

Police released a mugshot of Serna, a 16-year EPPD veteran, after he was booked into the downtown jail. Jail records show he was released on $1,000 bond.

Officials said Serna has been placed on administrative leave and is under investigation by the department's internal affairs division.
