EL PASO, Texas -- A body was found in a canal near the Rio Bosque Wetlands Park area on Saturday and police investigators were scouring the scene.

The discovery occurred just before 1 p.m. in canal #37 in the 10700 block of Socorro Road, right near the Texas Department of Agriculture offices in the Lower Valley.

Police did not immediately indicate whether foul play was suspected, however Crimes Against Persons detectives were dispatched to the site.

The 372-acre Rio Bosque Wetlands area where the body was found is a compilation of wetlands and riverside forest and is managed by UTEP's Center for Environmental Resources Management.

This was the second body found in a canal in El Paso in the past week.
