Police ID body found in northeast El Paso home; ‘foul play’ suspected, neighbors heard gunshots

UPDATE, Feb. 22: Police on Monday identified a man whose body was found over the weekend in a northeast El Paso home as 56–year-old Laithe Marra and confirmed that they "suspected foul play" in his death.

Detectives referred to the death probe as as "on-going investigation" Monday and offered no further details.

Neighbors told ABC-7 they heard gunshots the night before Marra's body was discovered at 4716 El Campo, although police have not said how he died.

ORIGINAL REPORT, Feb. 21: EL PASO, Texas -- The discovery of a body in a home in a northeast El Paso neighborhood this weekend has led to a suspicious death investigation by police.

Officers shut down the 4700 block of El Campo and a police crime scene unit mobile vehicle sat in the middle of the street as investigators combed the home for evidence.

Police initially responded to the home on a report of suicide, but questions quickly arose and Crimes Against Persons detectives were called in to investigate.

Authorities have not indicated a cause of death and said they were awaiting results of an autopsy.

No arrests have been made as yet in connection with the death.

    My neighbor was murdered in cold blood last Nov., no action at all. Crime Stoppers, that’s cool, but no resolution.
