UPDATE, Aug. 6: Detectives on Friday announced the arrests of three men in connection with a murder that took place late last month outside a house party on Villa Plata Street in east El Paso.
20–year-old Brian Arrington was being held in the downtown jail on $1 million bond on a murder charge, while 21 –year-old Shaheem Samuel and 19–year old Mauricio Romero were each jailed on $15,000 bond for charges of failing to report a felony.
Police didn't offer any further details surrounding the gunning down of 34–year-old Paulo Young on July 31st. Authorities also didn't release a mugshot of Arrington, saying the investigation was ongoing.
UPDATE, Aug. 2: Police on Monday identified 34–year-old Paulo Young as the man who was gunned down in east El Paso over the weekend.
Investigators said his killing occurred as he was leaving a house party early Saturday in the 2300 block of Villa Plata.
"During the house party, several gunshots were fired out on street and the host told everyone attending the party to leave. As people from the party were walking to their cars, Young became involved in an altercation with someone in a vehicle and was shot," police wrote in an incident report released Monday.
Young later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made and police asked anyone who may have information about the shooting to call Crimes Against Persons detectives at (915) 212-4040 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-8477.
ORIGINAL REPORT, July 31: EL PASO, Texas -- A man shot and critically wounded early Saturday morning in east El Paso later died at a local hospital, authorities told ABC-7.
Detectives were summoned to 2309 Villa Plata Drive, where the shooting took place around 4 a.m.
Police said the man who was shot suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators didn't indicate what led up to the shooting or whether any arrests had been made.
No further details were provided as of midday Saturday and police remained at the crime scene gathering evidence.
