WHITE HOUSE CALLS ANONYMOUS TRUMP CRITIC A ‘COWARD’

WASHINGTON (AP) _ The White House is objecting to a forthcoming book by an anonymous author who describes President Donald Trump as volatile, incompetent and unfit to be commander in chief. The Washington Post acquired a copy of “A Warning” and first reported on its contents Thursday. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham says, “The coward who wrote this book didn’t put their name on it because it is nothing but lies.” The author is identified only as “a senior official in the Trump administration.” According to the Post, the book describes racist and misogynist behind-the-scenes statements by Trump and says he “stumbles, slurs, gets confused, is easily irritated, and has trouble synthesizing information.”

NORMAN LLOYD MARKS 105th BIRTHDAY

UNDATED (AP) – The actor who played Dr. Daniel Auschlander on “St. Elsewhere” is celebrating his 105th birthday today.

Norman Lloyd was born on this date in 1914, the same year of the start of World War I and of baseball great Babe Ruth’s rookie year.

Besides “St. Elsewhere,” Lloyd’s acting credits include “Spellbound,” “Dead Poets Society” and “The Age of Innocence.” Lloyd appeared in the 2015 comedy “Trainwreck,” making him the oldest working actor in Hollywood.

He was married to actress Peggy Craven for 75 years. She died in 2011 at the age of 98.

“DOCTOR SLEEP” DIRECTOR DOES NOT THINK OF IT AS A “SHINING” SEQUEL

LOS ANGELES (AP) – “Doctor Sleep” director Mike Flanagan says the thought of having to live up to “The Shining” made him sick, so he did not think about it.

Flanagan says every time he thought of the words, “a sequel to ‘The Shining,’” it would make him “want to throw up a little bit.”

Flanagan says he prefers to think of “Doctor Sleep” as “a descendent” of “The Shining.” He says it has the DNA of both its “parents,” author Stephen King and filmmaker Stanley Kubrick.

“Doctor Sleep” follows Danny Torrance from “The Shining,” who is now an adult and an alcoholic. The film is in theaters now.

SHIA LABEOUF THOUGHT HE WAS FINISHED, THEN HE WROTE ‘HONEY BOY’

NEW YORK (AP) — For even an actor known for performance-art stunts and public displays of painful self-examination, Shia LaBeouf’s (SHY’-uh luh-BUFS’) “Honey Boy” is something else.

The film is about LaBeouf’s childhood relationship with his father, a former drug addict. LaBeouf wrote the film and plays his dad in it.

“Honey Boy” is radically autobiographical for such a well-known movie star. As therapy writ large, it’s a striking exercise in empathy in which LaBeouf wrestles and ultimately comes to peace with his father. LaBeouf considers it an act of exorcism. And it’s the most critically acclaimed movie of his career.

Amazon Studios will release the film in select theaters this weekend.

CHRISTIAN COMEDIAN JOHN CRIST CANCELS TOUR

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Christian comedian John Crist has canceled his tour and a planned Netflix special is on hold after he acknowledged mistreating women.

Crist, who often skewers evangelical Christian culture in his skits and online videos, apologized in a statement released Thursday for treating “relationships with women far too casually, in some cases recklessly.” He said he has sinned against God and women and hurt many people in the process.

In an article posted on the website for the Christian magazine “Charisma,” anonymous women accused Crist of trying to kiss them and sending sexually explicit messages.

A Netflix spokesperson said Crist’s special “I Ain’t Prayin’ For That,” is on hold.

WOMAN FIRED OVER ACCESS TO LEAKER TAPE OF ABC’s AMY ROBACH

NEW YORK (AP) _ A woman with access to a tape of ABC’s Amy Robach complaining about her bosses has been let go by CBS News. The former ABC employee had just started working at CBS. A person at ABC says the network tipped CBS off about the alleged tie. Conservative website Project Veritas aired the video but has not identified who gave it to them. Robach complains in the video about her bosses not running an interview with a Jeffrey Epstein accuser. ABC says the interview didn’t meet its standards.
