Three publishing officials tell The Associated Press that Biden has reached a deal with the publisher Simon & Schuster. Two of the officials put the price of the book deal at around $2 million. Bolton left the administration in September after numerous foreign policy disagreements with the president.
LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) — Bolivian President Evo Morales is facing an ominous new challenge as dissension spreads among police units amid widespread unrest over the country’s disputed presidential election results. Police guards abandoned their posts outside the presidential palace Saturday, and officers in at least three cities retreated to their barracks. Morales appeared at a military airfield to call for Bolivia’s political factions to hold talks. Opposition leaders quickly rejected his appeal.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia’s House of Delegates is poised to have the first female speaker in its 400-year history, with the chamber’s Democrats choosing a veteran legislator for the post. Democratic delegates for the upcoming session meeting on Saturday chose Del. Eileen Filler-Corn as their nominee. Filler-Corn’s election as speaker is anticipated because Democrats won this week a majority in the state House for the first time in two decades.
