Overnight crash sends police cruiser into corner store

    NEWPORT, KY (WCPO) — A Newport Police Department cruiser was sent into a corner store early Monday morning after the cruiser and another car crashed.

Police said the cruiser and the other car crashed near the corner of 10th Street and Isabella Street in Newport before 1 a.m. Monday. After the initial crash, the cruiser was sent into the Marco’s Market nearby. No one was inside the market when the cruiser crashed into the store.

The police officer in the cruiser and a woman and a baby from the other vehicle were taken to the hospital for injuries from the crash, but everyone is expected to be OK.

There is no word on what led to the initial crash between the cruiser and the other vehicle.
