Kate Bieri is a New Mexico native, born in Albuquerque and raised in Las Cruces.
Kate graduated summa cum laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Mass Communication at Arizona State University,
where she was recognized as the ASU Alumni Association Outstanding Graduate student in May 2017.
While at Cronkite, she interned at several local news stations; reported on breaking news for the Arizona Republic; and interned for the CBS News Network in New York, covering the 2016 election. Kate also spent a semester covering Arizona politics in Washington, D.C. for Arizona PBS.
Kate also reported on border issues in the school under the direction of Angela Kocherga, KVIA's former border reporter. In college, Kate was fortunate enough to report on immigration from the mountains of central Mexico to the halls of Congress. During her senior year, she flew to Quéretaro with a class of twenty to report on NAFTA, remittances, and the future of the Mexican economy in the new Trump administration.
Kate has served as ASU's student representative for the Rocky Mountain chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Kate is excited to cover news in her hometown, where she feels incredibly welcome. Please send story ideas and/or Crockpot recipes.
