Nearly 65% of eligible El Pasoans partially vaccinated; 11 added virus deaths including man in 40s

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Department of Public Health reported 11 coronavirus-related deaths and 46 new cases Wednesday.

The latest victims included:

  • 1 man in his 40s
  • 2 men in their 70s
  • 1 woman in her 70s
  • 4 women in their 80s
  • 2 men in their 80s
  • 1 man in his 90s

El Paso County's pandemic death toll now stands at 2,552. Health officials have repeatedly acknowledged in the past that they often confirm Covid-19 deaths months after they occur. These 11 fatalities did not occur on the same day.

There are 39 additional suspected Covid-19 deaths currently being investigated by the health department.

El Paso health department data shows that 43.8% of El Pasoans over the age of 16 are now fully vaccinated, with 64.8% having received at least one dose.

The number of known active cases now stands at 2,096.

There are 138 (-9) Covid-19 patients in El Paso hospitals, with 45 (-1) of those patients in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 134,488 confirmed virus cases in El Paso with 129,732 reported recoveries.
