Fort Bliss motorcyclist who died in northeast El Paso crash identified

UPDATE (4/18): Police indentified the driver as Luis Baltazar Torres.

UPDATE (4/17): Police officials say one unidentified, 32-year-old man driving a 2013 GSXR-R750 motorcycle died on the scene of a crash last night.

It happened around 11:52 p.m. on US-54 near the Transmountian exit.

Initial investigations revealed the motorcyclist was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. As he came upon two vehicles, he changed lanes and attempted to drive between them while each vehicle occupied a lane.

The motorcyclist lost control and struck the rear end of the 2008 Honda Civic driven by 18-year-old Evan Neria.

The 32-year-old was thrown from his bike and landed on the landscaping rocks that separate US-54 and the Transmountain exit.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Officials described him as a Ft. Bliss resident, and his identification is pending next-of-kin notification.

This fatality is the 22nd traffic fatality compared to 19 last year.

EL PASO, Texas -- Special Traffic Investigators investigate a deadly crash in south-central El Paso.

According to police officials, the crash happened just before midnight Saturday.

The collision involved a vehicle and a motorcycle. One person died as a result.
