Man arrested for allegedly assaulting El Paso police officer at bar; faces weapons charge
EL PASO, Texas – A 21-year-old man from east El Paso is charged with assaulting a police officer and unlawful carry of a gun.
El Paso police say they were responding to a fight Sunday morning at La Unica bar on 1515 Lee Trevino. Investigators say officers arrived just before 2 a.m. and saw a fight in progress and heard shouting indicating someone had a gun.
According to investigators, as the people were exiting the bar, Torry Lashawn Reid assaulted an officer. Investigators say as Reid was being handcuffed and searched, police found a handgun in one of Reid's pockets
