Recycling plant fire in south-central El Paso remains under investigation

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story indicated a gas line might have been ruptured, but fire officials say that was not the case.

UPDATE: The fire at a recycling plant fire Friday morning on the 1600 block of Paisano was knocked down around 2 p.m. that same day, according to fire officials. The call about the fire came in at 11:14 a.m.

As many as 50 firefighters and 19 units responded. The fire remains under investigation.

Heavy machinery was used to move bales to check for hotspots.

Fire officials say the fire briefly rekindled on Saturday at 5:14 a.m., but was quickly extinguished by 5:33 a.m.

UPDATE (11:50 a.m.): The brush fire on 3111 S. Eucalyptus has been put out. Fire crews remain at Paisano and Coles.

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Fire crews are responding to two separate fires in two parts of south-central El Paso. One fire is at 1611 E. Paisano.

According to an El Paso fire tweet, the fire is at a recycling center called PCM International. El Paso fire crews say there are no reported injuries at this time.

The other fire is at 3111 S. Eucalyptus. The Fire at Paisano may be related to a gas line rupture. The fire at Eucalyptus was described as a brush fire.
