First case of monkeypox confirmed in Texas

DALLAS, Texas - The Texas Department of Health Services confirms the first monkeypox case in Texas.

Officials say it's a single case virus infection in a Dallas County resident with recent international travel.

Health officials have identified a few people who may have been exposed and are self-monitoring for symptoms of infection.

The DSHS says the illness does not currently present a risk to the general public.

The infected patient is isolating at home.
