El Paso Strong artist says he is ‘honored’ his mural brought the community together

EL PASO, Texas- On the third anniversary of the Walmart mass shooting, we remember how the El Paso community gathered in unity through art.

ABC-7 speaks with Gabriel Vasquez, the El Paso Strong mural artist that helped the community through the healing process after the tragedy.

The mural is located at 1011 N Cotton St.

Vasquez tells ABC-7 that he feels humbled and honored that he was able to be a part of the healing process and that he has given the community another place to get together to remember those 23 lives lost.

"I want to make sure that in my lifetime, this mural stays here because of what it does for our community," said Vasquez
