El Paso City Rep. district 6 seat headed for a runoff

Rodriguez and Fierro

EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso's district 6 representative will now be decided in a runoff election.

The results were Claudia Lizette Rodriguez with 43% and a total of 5,977 votes. Art Fierro finished with 32% of the votes and 4,485 votes.

Incumbent Lizette Rodriguez was looking for a second term while she faced Christian Botello, Benjamin J. Leyva and current State Representative Art Fierro.

Lizette Rodriguez has been representing the district for the past four years.

State Representative Art Fierro will finish his second term in January. He is moving back to local politics after losing his primary for that seat to Claudia Ordaz-Perez.

ABC-7 got the chance to speak with some District 6 voters. They told us their concerns.

"The streets, the maintenance on the medians is crazy," said Berta Hall, a local resident, "They are wasting money."
