ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico – A 51-year-old El Paso motorcyclist has been killed in a crash along a southern New Mexico highway, state police said Monday.

Michael Warren Hulburt Jr. was pronounced dead by the state medical investigator at the scene of Friday's crash along U.S. Highway 54, near mile post 47, south of Alamogordo.

Investigators said Hulburt and a 46-year-old woman passenger were ejected from his motorcycle when he lost control, left the roadway and crashed. What caused Hulburt to run off the road had not been determined, but police said he was not believed to have been intoxicated.

The woman who was ejected was taken to an area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, authorities said. Her identity was not released.
