Former Deputy Constable Arrested On Sexual Assault Charge
EL PASO — Mario Ramos, who was involved in a shooting incident in August whilea deputy constable,has been fired by Constable Alex Gamboa.
Gamboa– could not talk to ABC-7 on camera because he is out of the area on family business — confirmed Ramos was fired Dec. 1 due to “off-duty misconduct.”
Wednesday, the District Clerk’s office confirmed Ramos was indicted on a charge of sexual assault. According to the indictment, Ramos attempted to rape a woman on May 28, 2008.
Ramos is also accused of shooting a man during a chase in far east El Paso on August 16.The countyput himon paid administrative leave pending the results of a sheriff’s investigation into the shooting.
Ramos is also the subject of allegations of abuse by three men who claim he used excessive force earlier this year.
Guerrero Montes, his son Ivan, and a third man allege Ramos beat them without cause during a traffic stop on February 22.
Records show Ramos quit the Socorro Police Department in 2005 while being investigated for allegedly using excessive force.
The records also reveal he quit the El Paso Department of Public Safety in 2006 while being investigated for “belligerent and unruly” conduct.
And in 2007, he quit the Anthony Police Department while being investigated for misconductduring a traffic stop.
