Man shot by police officer in Las Cruces
A man is recovering in El Paso after being shot by a Las Cruces Police officer on Tuesday Night.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Bataan Memorial West and Porter Drive.
Police say they were responding to a domestic disturbance call in the area.Information from investigators notes that the man pulled out a an air pistol made that looks like an authentic Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm handgun that is often used by law enforcement agencies.
The 42-year-old man sustained gunshot wound to his upper arm. He was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center of El Paso. He is expected to survive.
The officer is on administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation.
