Boyfriend held in killing of Texas woman in Carlsbad, N.M.

The boyfriend of a Dallas-area teacher found dead in southeastern New Mexico is accused of killing her.

Carlsbad Police Capt. Jarod Florez says 33-year-old Robert Earley of Euless, Texas faces charges of murder and other crimes in the killing of 30-year-old Emily Lambert.

Florez says Earley is jailed after being arrested Wednesday.

Authorities say Lambert was last seen Saturday night leaving a Carlsbad bar. Her body was discovered Tuesday along a highway near Carlsbad.

Florez says Earley worked in the southeastern New Mexico oilfield and that Lambert was visiting him for the weekend. She worked for the Richardson Independent School District.

No cause of death was immediately released.

Florez says he doesn’t know if Earley has an attorney but that Earley didn’t ask for one when speaking with detectives.
