Chihuahua Officials: Body Found Could Be That Of Missing Socorro Woman
Investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office are working with investigators in Chihuahua to confirm the identity of a body found near a Juarez dump, according to a spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office.
In a news release sent to ABC-7, Chihuahua state government officials state they believe the body is that of a woman reported missing in Socorro Monday.
According to them, investigators in El Paso called and said they have a suicide note from Johnny Ray Nevarez. He reportedly admitted that prior to his suicide, he killed his 20-year-old wife and then dumped her body in Juarez.
Chihuahua officials identified the woman, however, ABC-7 is withholding that information until it is confirmed by investigators in El Paso.
ABC-7 is also awaiting confirmation from investigators on whether Johnny Ray Nevarez is the man found dead inside a car near Hueco Tanks Monday night.
At the time of the discovery, Socorro Police officials indicated the discovery was linked to the disappearance of a woman in Socorro.
Residents who live on the 10400 block of Aaker in Socorro tell ABC-7 they knew Nevarez and his wife. They said the woman missing is Nevarez’s pregnant wife.
Sheriff’s officials say they suspect a woman was killed inside a mobile on the 10400 block of Aaker and that her body might have been dumped in Juarez.
