El Paso Police report suspicious package at County Courthouse

UPDATE (2:06 p.m.) -- El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego released a statement about Wednesday's evacuation at the county courthouse after a reported suspicious package.

"This morning, June 10th, a suspicious package was received at the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse, prompting the immediate evacuation of county employees, visitors, and members of the public as a precautionary measure.

The safety and well-being of everyone in our facilities remains our highest priority. We want to thank law enforcement officials for their rapid and professional response in addressing the situation, securing the area, and working diligently to ensure the safety of all individuals. Their quick response helped maintain order and allowed for the safe relocation of these individuals to designated areas.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partner agencies, including the Office of Emergency Management and Sun Metro, for their assistance during this incident

We thank everyone for their patience and cooperation throughout this response. El Paso County remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for everyone who visits and works in our public facilities."


UPDATE (11:17 a.m.) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said the area is safe and people are being let back into the courthouse.

EPCSO said there's no threat to the public.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Police Department reported a suspicious package at the county courthouse around 9:08 a.m. Wednesday.

El Paso Police Department Bomb Squad is responding to assist.
