Taylor Lindsey records first cycle in Chihuahuas history in 9-2 victory over Memphis
EL PASO, Texas – Taylor Lindsey hit for the first cycle in El Paso Chihuahuas’ history in Tuesday’s 9-2 win over the Memphis Redbirds. Lindsey went 4-for-4 and his seventh-inning double to left field clinched the rare feat. It was the second cycle of his professional career (August 6, 2011 with Rookie-level Orem) and the first Padres’ Triple-A cycle since Mike Baxter (June 8, 2010 with Portland).
The Chihuahuas batted around in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on five hits, including a solo home run by Carlos Asuaje, his sixth of the year and first at Southwest University Park. Manuel Margot hit two triples and now leads the Pacific Coast League with 10. His 10 triples surpassed Alex Dickerson’s nine in 2015 for the most single-season triples in Chihuahuas’ history.
Aaron Northcraft pitched six shutout innings in his first start since coming back from Double-A San Antonio.
Hunter Renfroe went 0-for-5, ending his 16-game hitting streak. Nick Noonan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games. The Chihuahuas collected 15 hits for the second consecutive night. El Paso has won three games in a row.
