Estela’s Escuelas: Literacy Day & National Parks

a lesson in conservation for a group of fourth- graders. in today’s estela’s escuelas. … we go out to loma verde elementary school. where students from americas high school and rangers from the chamizal national memorial taught young children about the origins of the national park. the older students read “th camping trip that changed america” — and they performed and dressed up like teddy roosevelt and john muir, the environmentalist. the high schoolers are members of the student sierra coalition. he brought teddy roosevelt over, and they were basically in a camping trip, and roosevelt decided that these national parks need to be preserved, so he made national parks week . it’s important for us to teach the little kids because they look up to us in way. … the sooner you learn about it, the less harder it is for you to grasp it … when you’re older, you’ll be passionate a bout it. as part of the national park service’s “every kid in a park” program and centennial celebration, every service’s “every kid in a park” program and centennial celebration, every fourth grader at loma verde was signed up for a free national park pass. time now for a preview of abc-7 at
