Fights break out at Raymond Telles Academy, district places campus on hold

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Raymond Telles Academy is on a hold right now after multiple fights broke out at the school.

El Paso Independent School District spokesperson Pablo Villa tells ABC-7 that the hold means class transitions have been suspended.

The school is located on the 2800 block of Grant Avenue.

El Paso ISD Police are congregated around the campus. Officials tell us the district's police department is handling the fights.

Villa provided ABC-7 with the following statement.

"Raymond Telles Academy entered a Hold protocol Wednesday, Nov. 15, out of an abundance of caution after multiple altercations occurred on campus. El Paso ISD Police Services units along with units from the El Paso Police Department responded swiftly to the school to assist campus officers and staff. Appropriate disciplinary procedures will follow in accordance with district policy and local law enforcement will be involved, if necessary, to prosecute individuals to the fullest extent of the law. The safety and security of students and staff remains our highest priority."
