Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Tornillo
TORNILLO, TX. – An elderly woman who was struck by a van while crossinga poorly litstreet in Tornillo has been identified at Carmen Nunez of Tornillo.
The accidenthappened just before9 o’clockMonday night in the 19000 block of Texas Highway 20 in Tornillo. The El Paso County Sheriff’s office saidthey believe the womanto be in her early 70’s.
The 18-year-old man who was driving says he swerved, but was unable to avoid hitting the woman. Sheriff’s deputies say the woman died at the scene. Investigators do not believe speed was a factor in the crash. The identity of the driver has notbeen released.
