ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Quiet weekend ahead before heavy rain returns Monday and Tuesday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A mostly quiet weekend is ahead for the Borderland. Most areas loooking to stay dry Saturday and Sunday, with only a slight chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm over the mountains.

High pressure tracking to build behind the storm system moving away from the area looking to bring more sunshine and fewer clouds this weekend. Temperatures tracking to stay near normal for late September.

A big change arrives Monday and Tuesday as we track moisture from the remnants of Polo moving into the Borderland as another storm system moves across Arizona which could bring a much better chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Heavy rain will be the main concern. Moisture levels could reach 1.5 to 1.6 inches, which is much higher than normal for this time of year. Slow-moving storms could produce heavy rain and raise the risk of flash flooding. Some gusty winds could also develop Tuesday.

Looking ahead, the weather should improve by Wednesday as the tropical moisture moves east. Sunshine and more pleasant, seasonable weather are expected for the second half of the week.
