Pit Bull Prevents Cop From Making Arrest

EL PASO, TX – A pit bull prevented a police officer from arresting a man suspected of robbing a central El Paso auto parts store.

The incident happened at about 5:30 Monday morning near the intersection of Myrtle and Brown. According to Police, the burglar stole two wheel rims from the store.

Police arrived at the scene and spotted the thief trying to run away with the rims. Police proceeded to chase the man but a pit bull joined in the chase. When the dog ran in the direction of the officer, he fired off two rounds to make it go away.

Investigators were able to mark the shell casings on the street and determined the shots did not hit the dog.

While the officer was distracted, the thief dropped the rims and got away.

Police were not able to get a description of the man.
