Spaceport America Taxes To Begin January 1, 2008 Despite Delay

DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. – The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Friday notified Doa Ana County that it will begin collecting Spaceport America gross-receipts taxes on Jan. 1, 2008.

This comesdespite a resolution passed Oct. 10 by the Doa Ana County Board of Commissioners seeking a delay of the tax collection by at least six months.

The Doa Ana County Board of Commissioners will schedule a closed meeting – perhaps as early as Monday, Oct. 15 – to evaluate its options.
