Brothers Wanted For Extreme Animal Cruelty Now In Custody
DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. – A man accused of animal cruelty is now in custody after he turned himself into authorities Wednesdaymorning.
Officials say 48-year-old Duryea Scott turned himself in to the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s office accompanied by his attorney at9 a.m.Wednesday morning. Scott, an employee at White Sands Missle Range, was supposed to turn himself in toinvestigatorsTuesday night.
But he never arrived. His 50-year-old brother Daron was arrested Tuesday and charged with Extreme Animal Cruelty.Authorities had been investigatingDaron and his brother Duryea since August.
The investigation led them to two locations in northeast El Paso owned by the brothers. Police found 21 pit bulls living in filthy conditions.
The animals were deyhdrated and left with little food. Both brothers are being held on $25,000 dollar bonds each. They are to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
