El Pasoans Mixed On Signing Of Health Care Law
EL PASO, Texas – President Obama’s new health care reform law has Republicans on Capitol Hill pretty worked up. Alongside them? El Paso Pharmacist Leo Artalejo.
“It has been a big disappointment,” he told ABC-7.
Artalejo is the director the West Texas Regional Poison Center. a 24-hour hotline he says saves $4-5 million a year in emergency room visits.
“The American people have made it clear that there is a need for health care reform,” he said. “But, not under the conditions of such secrecy and having such a limited amount of input or even knowledge about what the (President’s) health care plan is about.”
Still, El Pasoan Eric Weaver said as confusing as the new law may be, it is needed and needed now.
“How it all comes to fruition, you have to trust the lawmakers,” he told ABC-7.
And El Pasoan Edmundo DeLeon agreed.
“Something needed to be done about the rising cost of health care,” said DeLeon.
