Update: Teen dies in Northeast El Paso shooting

An 18-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a shooting Monday night and El Paso Police believe it was gang related, according to police spokesman Sgt. Chris Mears.

The man has been identified as Christian Duran of the 5000 block of Debeers. Mears said the shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m. on the 5500 block of Debeers Drive.

Duran had a gunshot injury to the torso area and was taken to University Medical Center where he died.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC-7 crews the teen was shot multiple times while he was inside of a car.

Anyone with any information on this case is asked to called Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at 566-8477(TIPS). This is the first homicide of 2013 compared to three at this time last year.
