Noel Hits Inside the Park HR in Loss

The Salt Lake Bees scored six unanswered runs to come back and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-5 Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake City. The loss ended El Paso’s four-game winning streak. Rico Noel hit a two-run, inside the park home run in the fifth inning. Bees center fielder Tony Campana dove for Noel’s line drive and missed the ball. Noel then rounded the bases for the first inside the park home run in Chihuahuas history.

Brennan Boesch led Salt Lake’s offense Saturday, going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Boesch has not been retired in the last two games, reaching base nine consecutive times on two homers, four doubles, two walks and a single. Chihuahuas catcher Rocky Gale went 3-for-3 in the loss. El Paso’s offense continued its powerful series. With nine hits Saturday, the Chihuahuas have collected 51 hits in the first four games of the series.

Tyler Greene went 1-for-4 with a double, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, tying his own previous mark for longest Chihuahuas hitting streak. The Chihuahuas penultimate road trip of the season ends tomorrow.
