Ysleta school district to give out free backpacks Saturday — and not just to YISD students

The Ysleta Independent School District will hold its 5th Back to School Rally.

This year, they are giving out 2,500 backpacks with school supplies. Also different this year: they are opening up the giveaway to students who are not registered in YISD.

Ysleta is an open enrollment school district, meaning students don’t need to live within its boundaries to attend YISD schools.

District spokeswoman Patricia Ayala explains where the rally will be, when the doors open and what else parents and students will see at the event during an interview with Denise Olivas on ABC-7 at Noon.
