Watch Las Cruces High School students show off new buildings in intricate music video

A video put together by local high schoolers has gone viral with almost 25,000 views since Monday.

Students at Las Cruces High School were asked to make a video to show off the new buildings at their school, the sky bridge for example. But students say it turned into something bigger than they imagined.

“We watched some of the other schools lip dubs and we thought it would be really really cool if everyone could be involved like the entire student body,” one LCHS student said.

The video, which took a lot of maps and weeks of planning, was originally supposed to be a way to show off the school’s improvements, like the performance arts hall and the band practice field.Principal Jed Hendee says the entire renovation project will cost $87 million. Phase one, completed this year, cost $52 million.

“All kids no matter if they’re like tough to get engaged or those that get engaged with everything, that all kids all 1625 were involved in this video and took such pride in this video,” Hendee said.

He says he’s proud the students wanted to take the video one step further. Now, their hard work can be seen well beyond Las Cruces.

“We thought that maybe some parents would watch it. We knew people here were really excited about it but we didn’t know the rest of Las Cruces would be,” one LCHS student said.

Hendee says phase two and three of the renovations should be completed by the end of 2017. The Bulldawgs will also show the video at their big rivalry game against Mayfield on Friday.
