Woman awaiting trial for killing of ecstacy dealer among three arrested on drug charges

Police officers arrested three people allegedly in possession of marijuana and meth over the weekend.

Police say 22-year old Brianna Garay, 18-year old Jeshua Colunga, and 21-year old Carlos Garcia were inside a maroon Honda Accord blocking an alleyway on the 4500 block of Arlen.

As officers with the Gang Suppression Unit approached the vehicle shortly after 10pm, they noticed the odor of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle.

An investigation revealed the three were allegedly in possession of .18 ounces of Marijuana and 4.2 grams of Methamphetamine.

Garay, Colunga, and Garcia were charged with “Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces.”

Garay and Colunga were additionally charged with “Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1: More than 4 grams, less than 200 grams.” All three were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Garay is awaiting trial for the May 2013 killing of 22-year-old Jose Castanon, an alleged ecstasy dealer, ABC-7 archives state.

Friday, a jury sentenced Ricardo Macias to 22 years in prison for the death of Castanon. Macias, originally charged with Murder, was found guilty on the lesser charges of Aggravated Robbery and Manslaughter.

Court documents obtained by ABC-7 state Macias, Garay, and Sonia Bautista got into an argument with Castanon over a payment for ecstasy pills.

The three allegedly beat Castanon to the ground and stomped on his head. Bautista was convicted of Murder in 2015 and sentenced to 48 years in prison.
