EPFD investigating house fire in East El Paso

El Paso firefighters contained a large house fire in east El Paso.

It erupted at around 9:30 Monday evening at a home located on the 9300 block of McFall.

Just before 10 p.m., EPFD tweeted that firefighters were going into a defensive strategy to fight the fire from the outside.

Montwood Dr. was closed to traffic from Viscount to Catnip for hours.

A fire department spokesman told ABC-7 high winds hampered the effort to put out the fire. Five to ten neighboring homes had to be evacuated as a precaution.

No injuries were reported. The fire department says the residents of the home were able to get out safely by the time they arrived.

There is no word on the cause of the fire, or the estimated amount of damage.
