Garth Brooks wraps up five-concert series in Las Cruces
Country music superstar Garth Brooks wrapped up his final performance at the Pan American Center Sunday night.
Brooks performed in Las Cruces 5 times in 3 days.
Sunday, ABC-7 spoke with Barbara Hubbard, who played a big role in bringing Brooks to the Land of Enchantment.
Over the years, Hubbard has brought hundreds of musicians to the Pan American Center.
“Guns and Roses, Metallica, Faith No More and then we jumped to the Eagles,” Hubbard said.
But Hubbard says she has a special relationship with Garth Brooks.
“We go way back from when that young man was just starting out,” she said.
Brooks first performed at the Pan America Center in 1996. That’s when Hubbard says she and Brooks’ mother had a chat, which built the foundation for him to return 21 years later.
“She and I got to sit down and talk about how proud we were of our sons and I think once we mentioned that to him, then he said, we’re going,” Hubbard said.
Sunday thousands of fans lined up and crowded the Pan American Center to see his final performance. Now many are wondering what’s next for Las Cruces. Hubbard says she won’t back down.
“I’m going out and knocking on doors trying to get some of the big rock stars we used to have, like ACDC, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars,” Hubbard said.
