LCPD investigating shooting at busy intersection
Las Cruces Police are investigating a shooting at El Paseo and Wyatt.
It was reported shortly before 1:45 pm. Police told ABC-7 the suspected shooter fled the scene and was later involved in a car crash at Arizona and Wyatt.
The suspected shooter is in custody, police at the scene said.
ABC-7’s New Mexico Mobile Newsroom has confirmed a wounded man was transported to a nearby hospital. The man was shot once, police said.
“I just heard the gunshot first but I thought it was a busted car tire,” witness Claudia Ponce said, “Then I heard my boss yelling ‘call 911,’ and we thought the car crash was really bad. Then I walked out and then I see the guy holding the gun to the passenger side.”
