Traffic stop leads to chain of events resulting in arrests of 3 DWI suspects

The Police Department’s DWI Task Force arrested and charged three men for DWI related offenses at the same location: 2200 N. Mesa.

The arrests were made Saturday April 15, 2017 shortly after 1 a.m. 2200 N. Mesa is listed as the address of the Circle K at Mesa and University.

In the first case, 24-year old Antonio Taylor, of Fort Bliss, Texas, was allegedly weaving across traffic lanes in a 2010 Dodge while driving south on Mesa.

Police officers pulled Taylor over and he pulled into the parking lot at 2200 N. Mesa. Police said Taylor was found to be intoxicated, in possession of a .380 handgun, and .2 grams of Zolpidem.

Taylor was arrested and charged with DWI with a blood alcohol content allegedly over .15, “Unlawful Carrying Weapon,” and “Possession of a Controlled Substance.”

While police were investigating Taylor, 26-year old Daniel Xavier Pinon pulled into the parking lot at 2200 N. Mesa in a 2012 Nissan Versa.

Police said that when Pinon exited the vehicle, he was staggering as he exited the vehicle. An officer checked on Pinon and allegedly found him to be intoxicated and in possession of brass knuckles. Pinon was charged with
DWI and “Carrying Prohibited Weapons.”

While police were still investigating Taylor, 24-year old Monqwell Speight, of Fort Bliss, Texas, pulled into the parking lot at 2200 N. Mesa in a 2015 Mustang.

Speight walked to the officer as he was conducting his investigation with Taylor. Police said the officers found Speight to be intoxicated and charged with him DWI.

The three men were booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
